UK Mountain Bike Trails and Routes - SOUTH EAST - Ridden

South East: Singletrack Heaven!

Whether it’s more groomed trails at Swinley Forest, the jumps at Queen Elizabeth Park , the challenge of Evian in the Surrey Hills or the vast coastal paths of the Purbecks, there is a huge range to offer the mountain bike fan of all standards.
Our hub to the Surrey Hills is Peaslake, with Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill and Leith Hill offering over 50 trails maintained by the Friends of the Hurtwood.

Two-wheeled celebrity spotters are rarely disappointed, it’s the regular stomping ground for riders such as #Anna Glowinski.

We’ve looked to create a shortlist of our top five Surrey MTB rides, with GPXs and more info on trails including Barry Knows Best, Yoghurt Pots, Vauxhall Nova, Telegraph and others. And check out our latest designs available in t-shirts, prints , mugs and more..

Maybe you are organising a group event or weekend away, then contact us for bespoke t-shirts and other group items.

Peaslake / Surrey Hills

Peaslake has become the mecca of the South East for mountain bike trails. With over 50 dedicated and named trails and routes through the stunning Surrey Hills, it's simply the best in the area. Post Code: GU5 9RL

Leith Hill (& Redlands)

The top of Leith Hill tower is the highest point in the south east. There are 'unofficial' trails all over, but the main attraction is Summer Lightning which now gives an awesome descent of pure joy! Post Code: RH5 6LU (Also search Redlands, but these lower trails may be destined for removal.)

Kuoni Trails

Kuoni Trails in Dorking are a set of well crafted jumps, with one huge line and the rest are fairly small step ups. Experienced riders ONLY!. Post Code: RH5 4AZ

Swinley Forest

Swinley Forest has 24km of dedicated mountain bike trails ranging comprising three main routes; green, blue and red with off-shoot downhill blasts through beautiful pine forest. Well worth a visit. Post Code: RG12 7QW

34P Bike Park

S4P Bikepark is the number one Dirt Jump spot in the UK. It's situated on the same piece of woodland as the legendary Milford Trails which were established in 1998. You need to be a member to ride there (free sign up!). Post Code: GU8 5BL

You will hear whoops and bellows as you arrive at this legal Forestry Commission managed mountain bike site. Let go in a steep sandy 'bowl' for some serious fun riding. Post Code: GU31 5BH

Queen Elizabeth Country Park

QECP Mountain Bike Centre is just off the A3 south or Petersfield. There are two really fun and has two bike trails (a red and a blue) which are clearly signed. There is also tons of natural terrain trail riding around the forest. Post Code: PO8 0QE

Stoughton Downhill has blue, red and black tracks that are progressive in nature and so cater for all abilities. All rides are maintained by volunteers in collaboration with the Forestry Commission. It's ace! Post Code: PO18 9JG

South Downs Way

The South Downs Way is an epic 3 day event ride (if you are fit!). From chalk ridges, deep forests, open fields and some incredible views. It needs some planning, but well worth the challenge. Start Post Code: SO23 9BE

Private Forest with trails properly organised and maintained which are graded. It's recommend walking them first as they are feature packed and will catch you out! Tame starts end in technical breathtaking finishes! Post Code: BN44 3DB

Friston Forest

Friston Forest gives more extreme geography to contend with than some trails because of the South Downs. Lots of single track climbs with short, fast sections peeling off intermittently to the left, zig-zagging down the hill before cutting back in for another climb. Be careful on anything 'unofficial' ! Post Code: BN25 4AD

The Bull Track

A great place for newer riders. The Bull Track is part of the BR4R downhill series - this is where they are held. It boasts the most laid back race series in the region, if you ever wanted to start racing, this is the place to do it. Check opening! Post Code: TN5 7PR

Penshurst Off Road Club or P.O.R.C as it's affectionately known, is a great place to hang out on a hot day and hit some nice big table tops on the 4X course and maybe do a few not too hectic DH runs. There's a good atmosphere and there's no crappy attitude. Everyone is basically having a laugh. Post Code: TN11 8DU

Something for all at Bedgebury. If you're a serious rider then there is singletrack over 15km in length in a loop that takes the rider deep into the forest, offering challenges to test the skills. That's for us then 🙂 Post Code: TN17 2SJ

Mereworth Woods

This forest is part owned by the MOD. It has large cross country trails and downhill/north shore runs in the south of the woods and dirt jump area have started to emerge. Well worth checking out! Post Code: ME18 5JY

North Downs Way - Detling HIll

Awesome and can be scary, this trail on the North Downs is a bridle path that flows through the woods, which starts at the top of Detling Hill and goes all the way to Blue Bell hill. It runs along the top of the escarpment and has several DH tracks may be six or more, (take it easy on the descents!) Post Code: ME14 3JE

Kearnsey Abbey

Kearsney Abbey in Dover Kent, has a large welcoming area of XC trails suitable for mountain bikers. The trails are situated above the Abbey where there are lakes, a cafe, car parks and toilet facilities. What more could you want?! Post Code: CT16 3EG
